WASHINGTON, D.C. — Following a tense hearing on Capitol Hill in December, lawmakers continue to press Ivy League universities about antisemitism on their campuses.
Today, the House Education and Workforce Committee issued subpoenas to leaders at Harvard University for what the Committee calls “failing to produce priority documents related to the Committee’s antisemitism investigation.”
Since December’s hearing, the committee has been compelling the Ivy League school to turn over documents as it investigates antisemitism on campus.
Harvard has already turned over some of the documents, however, Committee Chairwoman, Virginia Foxx (R- NC) says they contained “omissions and questionable redactions.”
Harvard says the subpoenas were “unwarranted” but says it’s committed to cooperating with the committee.
This is the first time the committee has ever issued a subpoena to a university.
Since the hearing, presidents of both Harvard and UPenn have resigned.
